Ahmedabad: For Rajika Mahajan, a class 11 student, if there is an issue that people need to address immediately; it is the issue of drastic change in the climate of the country and world as a whole. Mahajan hails from one of the most polluted places on earth - Ankleshwar in south Gujarat and hence she feels that the need of the hour is to make people aware of the fact that the existence of human race is in danger and immediate measures need to be taken by the present generation.

Mahajan who was in the city along with four other kids is preparing a model to save planet earth from climate change. She along with her group will showcase the model in a competition that is scheduled to be held on July 31 in Bharuch. The competition is being organised by a Hong Kong-based company, the CLP Group and its Indian partner, the Gujarat Powergen Energy Corporation (GPEC), based in Bharuch.

The competition is named 'Vision 2050 -- World is in our hands' and is based on preparing models to save the earth from the rising sea level and other calamities. With this model the students will show various methods to tackle the growing proximity between climate change and its impact on human race.

In the first phase of the competition some 20 schools mainly from south Gujarat and Baroda had participated, out of which eight schools made it to the second phase.

In the third phase students from the selected schools will compete with each other. Some of these schools are Queen of Angels (Bharuch), Amity (Bharuch), Tejas Vidyalaya (Baroda), Bright Day School, (Baroda), Sri Gattu Vidyalaya (Ankleshawar) among others.

In the final round that is going to be held on July 31 top three schools will be awarded by the CLP Group in Bharuch. According to company officials, the top three winners will be getting $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 (Hong Kong dollars) respectively.

According to the official, the models prepared by the students will be judged by experts on the final day. This competition was for students in Hong Kong earlier but from this year it has been organised for students in India and China too.
